My First Day at School
Introduction
My first day at school was one of the most memorable days of my life. I still remember that day very clearly. I was very young when I went to school for the first time. I felt both happy and nervous because everything was new to me. I was excited to meet my teachers and classmates, but I was also afraid of leaving my parents.
Getting Ready for School
I woke up early in the morning. My mother helped me get ready for school. She gave me a bath and dressed me in my new school uniform. My uniform was clean and beautiful. I wore black shoes and carried a new school bag. My bag contained books, notebooks, pencils, an eraser, and a lunch box.
My mother prepared breakfast for me. She encouraged me and said, “Do not be afraid. You will enjoy your school.” Her kind words gave me courage. After breakfast, my father took me to school.
Reaching the School
When I reached the school, I saw many children wearing colourful uniforms. Some children were playing, while others were talking to their friends. The school building looked large and beautiful. There were green trees, colourful flowers, and a playground.
At first, I held my father's hand tightly because I was afraid. I did not want him to leave me alone. My father smiled and told me that school was a place to learn, play, and make new friends. His words made me feel better.
Meeting My Teacher
Soon, a kind teacher came to welcome the new students. She smiled at us and spoke in a gentle voice. She took us to our classroom. The classroom was neat and clean. There were desks, chairs, a blackboard, and colourful charts on the walls.
My teacher introduced herself and asked each student to say their name. When my turn came, I stood up and told everyone my name. I felt a little shy, but my teacher encouraged me with a smile. She made us feel comfortable and happy.
My First Lesson
Our first lesson was very interesting. The teacher taught us the English alphabet and some simple words. She also taught us how to write letters in our notebooks. I listened carefully and followed her instructions.
After the lesson, the teacher asked us a few easy questions. Some students answered quickly, and others needed help. Our teacher treated everyone kindly. She told us that we should always respect our teachers, obey school rules, and help our classmates.
Making New Friends
During the break, I met some new classmates. We shared our lunch and talked to one another. A friendly boy sat beside me and asked my name. We became friends very quickly. We played together in the playground and enjoyed our time.
I was no longer afraid. I began to understand that school was not only a place for studying but also a place to make friends and learn good manners.
Going Back Home
After a few hours, the school day came to an end. I was happy when I saw my father waiting for me outside the school. I ran towards him and told him about my teacher, my classroom, and my new friends.
When I reached home, my mother asked me about my first day at school. I told her everything with great excitement. She was happy to hear that I had enjoyed my day. I showed her my books and notebooks and told her what I had learned.

My first day at school taught me many important things. I learned that school helps us gain knowledge, develop good habits, and become responsible people. Teachers guide us and help us understand the world around us. School also teaches us discipline, kindness, cooperation, and respect.
