 My School

My school’s name is Government High School No. 1, Peshawar. It is a big and beautiful school. The building is white and blue in colour and it has many rooms and a big playground. We come to school at 8 o’clock in the morning and say prayers in the assembly. Our teachers are very kind and good. They teach us Urdu, English, Maths, Science, Islamiyat and Pakistan Studies. I like my Science class very much because we do experiments. My school has a good library; there are many books in it. We play cricket and football during break time. My best friend’s name is Ali; we sit together in class. Our principal sir is very strict but he loves all the students.

Every year our school arranges many nice events. On 14 August we celebrate Independence Day. We wear green and white clothes, sing Milli Naghmay and do march past. On Eid Milad-un-Nabi we decorate the school with lights and buntings and hold a Naat competition. In spring we have a Fun Fair; there are food stalls, games and a magic show. Every March we celebrate Sports Day; we run races, play tug of war and the best players get medals and shields. On 23 March we celebrate Pakistan Day with flag hoisting, speeches and a colourful tableau show. In November we hold Parents Day where students sing songs, act in dramas and show their projects to mothers and fathers. We also have Quran Competition in Ramadan; the winners get beautiful prizes. Every Friday we enjoy Debate Competition in English and Urdu; it helps us speak with confidence. Sometimes we go on school trips to the museum or Khyber Park; it is very enjoyable. These events make our school life happy and full of fun. I am proud of my school because it gives me knowledge and teaches me good manners. I love my school very much.
