8- A DIALOGUE BETWEEN A STUDENT AND BOOKSELLER

Student: Asslam-o-Alaikum!
Bookseller: Wa’alaikum-us-Salaam!
Student: Do you have some books on Spoken English Language?
Bookseller: Yes! I have some of the best and latest books on Spoken English Language.
Student: Can you show me a few books?
Bookseller: Of course. Try this Baron Series’ Spoken English Language handbook. It is the latest and most selling book in this regard. This book most effectively serves your purpose.
Student: (Scrutinizing the book) It is pretty good. But it does not completely fill my needs. Anyhow, please, tell me its price.
Bookseller: It’s price is Rs. 230.
Student: It’s very expensive. I can not afford it.
Bookseller: I can give it to you in just Rs. 200. Do you agree with this price?
Student: It’s still quite costly. Please, show me some other books on Spoken English Language.
Bookseller: Sure. Please, try this one. It is also the latest edition of Spoken English Language.
Student: (Turning and checking the pages) It looks quite exciting and effective. I think that it will absolutely serve my real purpose. Please, tell me what is its price?
Bookseller: It’s printed price is Rs. 125 but I shall give it to you at a special discounted price of only Rs. 110.
Student: (Bargaining with the bookseller) Can you sell this book to me at Rs. 100?
Bookseller: No, it is not possible for me as I am selling this book to you at a very nominal profit of Rs. 10.
Student: But I am your regular customer. You should give me a bit more discount.
Bookseller: Ok. I give it to you at your desired price. But, mind it that I am giving you this book without getting my profit. I have just honoured your request.
Student: (Giving him a hundred rupee note) Please, take it. And thank you very much for this discount.
Bookseller: It’s my pleasure. Please, come again.
Student: Sure. Allah Hafiz.

Bookseller: Allah Hafiz.
